HostPeek Offers Data-Driven Web Host Comparisons

HostPeek today introduced a new free resource for Web hosting consumers to compare and contrast the world’s leading Web hosting providers, using performance and uptime data as a guide.

The new site, which has been in development for the past six months, provides rankings for 9 leading Web hosts in categories of uptime, server performance, and network speed. Uptime data is provided by Pingdom and Server/Network data is generated internally by HostPeek, through frequent testing.

Unlike many "top hosts" sites, which exploit the naivety of online consumers by providing biased or artificial rankings, HostPeek is oriented toward real comparisons backed by actual data. To assure the independence of all ranking data, HostPeek has anonymous hosting accounts at each of the hosting providers it ranks. HostPeek uses this access to the hosting servers to generate server performance and network speed data.

"HostPeek goes well beyond monitoring uptime. Unlike many sites, we place a real focus on the performance of servers. Some of the more technical folks will find very interesting data once they visit each host's review page, and those who are less technical can read the explanatory articles to get up to speed on what each term means and how to interpret the data correctly," said Dan Lemnaru, founder of HostPeek.
